In the travel industry when I got into conversations with teams about “purpose”, I heard a few times things like “We’re not curing cancer”. Obviously, we’re not but it misses the point.
I don’t think that extending people’s life is the only valid purpose someone can have at their job. I for one love traveling and I love to think that I am contributing to enabling others to do so.
Even on the B2B side of things, I feel happy when I help someone at a travel company do a better job; save time, make better decisions.
That in itself is fulfilling because it improves someone else’s life ever so slightly, and eventually, it also enables travelers to travel.
